Summary
Intelligent Logistics includes time and date stamps for the events in a package's lifecycle. It is important for customers to understand the time zones these events occur in so they can properly react and address any issues.
Solution
Event data for tracking units and invoices is recorded in the time zone of where the event occurred. For example, a shipment departs from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at 4:22 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST). The shipment arrived in South Holland, Illinois at 3:46 PM Central Standard Time (CST). It departed from South Holland, Illinois the same day at 8:22 PM Central Standard Time (CST). The shipment then arrived in Rialto, California five days later at 6:54 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST).
Administrative data like 'Created On', 'Changed On' and Created By' occur in Universal Time Coordinated (UTC). An example is a tracking unit created on June 16, 2020 at 6:58 PM Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) and was changed on June 18, 2020 at 2:17 AM Universal Time Coordinated (UTC).
Data Export applications allow the user to choose whether they want to filter on records updated within the last X amount of time based on UTC or the User Local Time Zone.
