Summary
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to use Intelligent Logistics to view a list of inbound packages being sent to your location or a receiving warehouse.
Overview
Intelligent Logistics will display inbound tracking data for locations that were included in the initial setup of the QVD feed, as requested by your UPS rep. Inbound tracking is tied to the location, and specifically, the information entered on the label.
Shippers can enter an address in different ways, for example - writing out the word "STREET," vs. abbreviating as "ST. - causing the location data to look slightly different depending on how the able was filled out. For this reason, we will provide our best recommendation on how to capture and filter inbound address data.
Solution
To get started, click on the Tracking Summary application. Click on the Adapt Filters button and select "Ship-to Postal Code."
Click on the filter and you will see a list of conditionals available from the drop-down, as shown below:
Select the conditional statements you want to use, and enter the postal code(s) of the inbound locations you want to track. If there are multiple combinations of postal codes, click "Add" beneath each text box to add another row of data.
In the example below, I'd like to see shipments to locations in one postal code, so I would select "Equal To," from the drop-down, type in the postal code, and hit enter. The postal code will appear in my selected items and conditions at the bottom of the screen. When ready, click "Go."
The next step is to add Ship-to information to the report columns. Click on the Settings button and click on "Ship-to" from the list of data points. This will create one column displaying the ship-to name and address. If you prefer to see this data broken out into multiple columns that you can sort and filter individually, then select the individual data points: Ship-to Street Address, Ship-to State, Ship-to City, etc.
Use the arrows to arrange your column(s) accordingly, and click "Go." The table will update to display packages shipped to that postal code.
To see packages currently in progress, click on the Transit Status Category filter and select "In Progress." Within the table, data for shipper information will appear, as well as the corresponding Ship-to addresses.
Click Export to download the information to Excel. The report will pull all shipments being sent to the postal code(s) you've added to your filter, so if there are any locations you do not want to track, simply filter those from the Excel.
In addition to "Ship-to Address," the following data points can be helpful to add to the report:
- Delivery Schedule
- Last Event Location
- Last Event Description
- Had Exception
- Transit Exception Type
