The purpose of this article is to provide step-by-step guidance on how to activate the DHL POD API and procure the DHL API key. The DHL API key is necessary for the Intelligent Logistics team to retrieve DHL POD files and make them accessible in the IL reporting platform.
There are 4 main steps to obtain the DHL API key:
- Confirm with your DHL Rep which account should be used for API key registration
- Create a Developer Account
- Verify the Developer Account
- Create your Applications
- Get API Keys
1. Confirm with your DHL Rep which account should be used for API key registration
The IL CSM team can help facilitate this process with the DHL rep. This account needs to be known before proceeding to section 4 of this article.
2. Create a Developer Account
Register on the API Support Website
https://developer.dhl.com/user/register
For Username, you must use naming convention 'skipum-<your company's name>' as seen in the screenshot below.
After you have created an account for the website, you will receive an email to set up your password.
Note: This is for the API Portal website only; this is not the API Key
3. Verify the Developer Account
After receiving the email referenced above, please follow the link to set your password.
4. Create Your Applications
Navigate to https://developer.dhl.com/
Login, if necessary. You will remain logged in if you complete this step immediately after verifying your account.
Select 'Browse our API's' section.
Scroll down and filter by Division = DHL Express, located on the left hand side of the screen.
Select 'DHL Express - MyDHL API'.
