To get the FedEx API key you need to have a FedEx account first. If you haven't created a FedEx account yet, please complete the steps in our FedEx - How to Create an Online Account knowledge article.
If you already have an account, log in, go to the FedEx Web Services page and click on Get Production Key.
First, you will need to register for the FedEx Developer Portal:
Enter the information for one of your FedEx shipper accounts. The information entered needs to match the information on file for the account. You will only need to do this once.
Once the registration form has been completed, you will see a screen similar to the one below. Click on Go to FedEx Developer Resource Center.
Scroll to the bottom of the next page and click on FedEx Developer Portal.
Next, create an Organization within the FedEx Developer Portal.
Be sure you are signed in to the Developer Portal. From the lefthand menu, click "My Projects."
Then, follow the steps below to create your Organization.
After clicking "Create," you will be taken to the following page where you will need to enter the Company Name, Website, and Organization Name.
Next, you will create the project by clicking Create Project. Select the Track API:
You will first see a test key displayed, but what we actually need is the production key. To get the production key, click the Production Key tab.
Create a name for the API Key and associate your shipper account by clicking "Add Shipping Account."
Once completed and approved, you will receive a confirmation email from FedEx similar to the one shown below. Click the Production URL to be taken the Production Key.
On the Production Key tab, copy the API Key and Secret Key.
We will need this information, along with the account number associated with the project in order to set up the API.
